Bedroom furnishings, also called bedroom accessories, are the items and features within your bedroom that accessorize the room. The main aspects of your bedroom consist of your bed and your bedroom furniture which usually includes a wardrobe, bedside tables and a set of drawers. Bedroom furnishings are the objects that dress up the bedroom adding extra flair, extra uses and even extra storage.

Anything in your bedroom can be classed as bedroom furnishings from a beanbag to a picture on the wall. You can choose your bedroom furnishings wisely by using all the available space but be careful not to overcrowd the room as you still want to give a spacious impression. It is case of having a nice balance of adding your own personal touches but not cluttering up your bedroom.

An example of a bedroom furnishing is shelves. Shelves are a great bedroom furnishing because it adds depth to the room by placing them up on the walls, the walls become apart of the bedroom where if left blank usually get lost in the background. Having nothing on the walls the bedroom appears to be only on the floor level, your eye is drawn to the bed, the chair, and drawers, all being on ground level there is nothing to lift your eye. Shelves are handy too as it gives you extra space to place your belongings such as books, photographs, ornaments and so on. These are items that you may have had to hide away in a drawer or have on the top of your bedside table which isn’t very practical as they are items that you would like to be displayed but do not necessarily use on a daily basis. Shelves are a great, multi functional, bedroom furnishing.

Another bedroom furnishing which is fantastic is bedroom mirrors. Of course they serve purpose for when you are getting ready in the mornings or for a night out but they also look really great in your bedroom. There are many different shapes and sizes of mirrors available and so you can get really creative and as wacky as you’d like. Mirrors are a great way to give the appearance that a room is bigger than it actually is because it reflects the room within the wall giving the illusion the room is larger. This is a great trick if your bedroom is a little on the small size or even if you have a large room it is always good to make a room look more spacious and roomy.

Bedroom furnishings are anything that you would like to use to dress up your bedroom. Good rules of thumb when choosing your bedroom furnishings is to pick items that reflect your personality, fit with the style of the bedroom, and add purpose.
